From a prepaid brand or another small carrier, allow up to one business day. From a landline or an internet phone service like Google Voice, allow 3 to 10 business days. The waiting is the process working, not a problem: your old carrier controls the approval, and your current phone keeps working until the exact moment of the switch.Four things from your current carrier: the account holder's name exactly as it appears on the account, the account number, a transfer PIN (most carriers call it a Number Transfer PIN and let you generate one in their app or by texting them), and the billing ZIP code.
